Areas We Treat
Relax and Enjoy

Using a fine needle, Botox and Dysport are injected into facial muscles to reduce furrows, lines, and wrinkles. No anesthetic is needed for the injection area, but numbing with ice packs or cream is available. Results typically appear within 3-5 days and can last up to 4 months. Regular treatment may extend results. Botox and Dysport are commonly used to minimize facial lines and wrinkles at New South Family Medicine and MedSpa. They can treat lines between the eyebrows, on the forehead, around the eyes, jawline, corners of the mouth, and gummy smiles.

What are Neurotoxins?

Neurotoxins, such as Botox® and Dysport®, are used to reduce the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles. This procedure is the most commonly performed minimally-invasive cosmetic treatment at New South Family Medicine and MedSpa. Neurotoxins are frequently used to treat fine lines and wrinkles between the eyebrows, the forehead, and around the eyes. They can also be used to soften the jawline, turn up the corners of the mouth, minimize the appearance of a gummy smile, and more.

How does it work?

When injected into facial muscles, the toxin temporarily blocks neuron activity, which prevents full muscle contraction. Because the muscles can no longer contract, the appearance of wrinkles caused by facial movements like frowning, raising eyebrows, or squinting is significantly reduced.

What are the advantages of Botox and Dysport?

  • Fast and effective. A typical treatment will show improvement approximately after 4-7 days.

  • Little discomfort – we take great care in administering these injections.

  • There is no “downtime.” After the injections, you may resume normal activity or go back to work.

  • Creates natural-looking outcomes without evidence that you’ve had work done.

  • There is no decrease in sensation or numbness in treated areas.

  • The effects of injections are reversible; lasting 3 to 4 months

  • Repeating injections may cause a muscle memory response to develop, thus enhancing the effects.

  • A non-surgical approach to treating wrinkles, and eliminates the need for anesthesia and long recovery times.

Is it Painful?

At New South Family Medicine and MedSpa, we can apply a topical anesthetic cream and/or ice compresses for several minutes prior to the treatment to numb the area. When the injection begins, you may feel a slight stinging sensation, but it will quickly subside. Once the injection is complete, the nurse will apply compression to help with an discomfort.

Are Botox and Dysport injections safe?

Both have an excellent safety profile. However, if you are pregnant or have a neurological disease, you should not be treated with Botox or Dysport Cosmetic injections.
