Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Feel Like Yourself Again.

Aging shouldn’t mean feeling tired, foggy, or “not quite yourself.”

At New South Family Medicine, we understand how hormone changes can affect your energy, mood, focus, and overall well-being. That’s why we offer Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) — a natural, personalized approach to restoring balance so you can feel like you again.

Because we practice Direct Primary Care, your hormone therapy isn’t an isolated service — it’s part of your ongoing relationship with your provider.

We look at the whole picture: nutrition, stress, thyroid function, sleep, and lifestyle. Your BHRT plan becomes one piece of a larger strategy to help you feel vibrant, healthy, and strong from the inside out.

You’ll always have the support of a provider who knows you personally and is just a text or call away.

BHRT and You

Bioidentical hormones are plant-derived compounds that have the exact same molecular structure as the hormones your body naturally produces.

Unlike synthetic alternatives, these hormones are biologically identical — which means your body recognizes and processes them just like its own.

At New South Family Medicine, we use BHRT to gently restore balance in estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone levels, helping you regain energy, mental clarity, and emotional stability — all while supporting long-term wellness.

Hormone changes can sneak up on us — sometimes starting in your 30s or 40s, sometimes later. Men and women alike can experience symptoms of imbalance, such as:

  • Fatigue or low energy

  • Brain fog or difficulty concentrating

  • Weight changes or bloating

  • Mood swings, anxiety, or irritability

  • Low libido or sexual discomfort

  • Hot flashes or night sweats

  • Trouble sleeping

  • Decreased muscle tone or strength

If any of these sound familiar, it’s not “just aging.” It could be your hormones — and there’s a natural way to bring them back into harmony.

BHRT Program Director

Dr. David Mendelsohn

Since 2002, Dr. David Mendelsohn has been practicing as a Family Medicine physician, with a focus on preventative medicine and managing common disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, depression/anxiety and musculoskeletal injuries. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Rochester, where he double majored in Biology and Psychology and minored in Ancient Civilizations. Dr. Mendelsohn then went on to graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School Medicine.

After finishing his training, he joined a practice with Novant Health in Charlotte's Steele Creek area. Although he appreciated the leadership experience, Dr. Dave realized the difficulties of providing or receiving medical care within a large system. He wished he had more time to spend with patients in the office and through email or phone calls. Dr. Dave believes that the patient/doctor relationship is a team relationship and wants to ensure that his "teammates" are well-informed about their bodies and illnesses.

In his free time, he enjoys being with his family, including his wife Dr. Jessica Mendelsohn, who is also his boss, and their two sons. He also likes to watch and support the Tar Heels and Panthers, or go fishing on the lake.
