    Dr. Mendelsohn was raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia and pursued undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech. She obtained her M.D. from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia After completing her residency in Family Medicine in Charlotte, NC, she became Board Certified in the same field and practiced full-time in Charlotte until 2014.

    During her time practicing in Charlotte, Dr. Mendelsohn was actively involved in physician leadership, serving as medical director and on various committees. She graduated from the McColl School of Business Physician Leadership Institute in 2012 and was voted as one of Charlotte "Top Doctors" that same year. Following the birth of her first son she shifted her focus to hospice work and became the medical director of an advanced care planning initiative. In 2018, recognizing the need for improved primary care in her community, Dr. Mendelsohn opened New South Family Medicine, which has since expanded to include a MedSpa.
